Dominic Williams Singing Tributes to Lennon. |

As posted by Alyssa, _colourmelovely.
As we all know, the truth of the matter is, December 8th is quickly approaching whether we desire it to or not. For all of us, it’ll be a tragic day in which we are called to remember the terrifying memories and passing of a hero, the dissolving of a man who made our lives more than beyond brilliant simply because he existed: John Lennon. Mr. Lennon, despite the fact we keep him in our thoughts on a day-to-day basis, has began to fade in the hearts of others around us who have dismissed the reminiscences of him from the very recesses of their minds. For us, and in remembrance of John, I wish to ask of you a great favor.
On other days of mourning we are called to wear symbols of our faith in the memoriam; for example, on Veteran’s day we wear poppies. So why should this Thursday be any different? Let’s show the world that we love John, that his memory is still very much alive, and that the legend he left us with is still burning bright.
To show your support please wear a purple ribbon Thursday, December 8th, all day, either tied around your wrist or pinned to your shirt. If you’d like, you could even take a picture of you wearing the ribbon and I’ll be sure to create a lovely thread in John’s honor in a new LJ community made to remember him.
But, why purple?
- Purple is the colour associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color that leads to a hue of the most inspirational sort. - Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. - Purple can boost imagination or an artist's creativity. - It’s a colour of mourning in many cultures.
Noble, spiritual, inspirational, special, sacred, delicate, precious, imaginative, creative- describe anyone we’ve been talking about yet? Yes, I think it does, beautifully.
So, don your purple ribbons in adoration of a man who created for us a world where love, and peace, and magic seemed possible. Perhaps there is a chance that on this day, it’ll seem like that again.
Reply if you’re going to wear a purple ribbon.
Yours in love, Alyssa _colourmelovely
